Ok bird food, not the best
I bought this birdfood to add a little variety and to hopefully attract a few more species of birds to my feeders. I have two feeders set up, one with a Walmart-bought birdsong seed mix (black sunflower, peanut pieces, and safflower seeds) and the other with this mix. The Walmart mix definitely gets about 3x as much attention as this mix does, and for half the price. I gave this mix three stars because the birds do eat it, but just not as much as the other bird seed. I probably will not buy this mix again.
Of note: There is quite a bit of red millet in this mix, which the birds will not eat, so all of that seed ends up on the ground under the feeder... wasted. Why this type of seed is put into bird mixes when it's known that the birds won't eat it is beyond me... seems like a scam...

My Zebras love it!
By Lotus River
I purchased a bonded pair of Zebras who were being fed "outdoor WILD finch feed" where the main ingredient was shelled sunflower seeds and other types that would even be a challenge for my parakeets to eat, let alone my finches! I checked their food bowls after a day of this food and they had devoured a significant amount of the new seed . I also added some needed adjustments, such as a mineral/calcium source, as there is currently a clutch that they are sharing sitting on, with a nest that fits both of them comfy. They are eating this mixture well so I have to say I am happy with the food!

This seed brought new friends to my bird cafe!
I read about this seed in another Amazon customer's review of a different product and decided to try it. The birds absolutely love this stuff. Within 24 hours of adding this seed to my mix, I had three times as many birds and many different kinds than I had previously. There is never any of this seed left the next morning. When the birds pick through the seed, eating their favorites first, this is the first one gone. On the weekends, I do see that it is gone by early afternoon so I add more to the mix.
I am adding this as a permanent item on the menu. Like another reviewer said, I know they like it because they are telling all of their friends.
The seed is very small and cannot go into any of my feeders. I feed this seed in an open 'feeder' which is just a large tupperware container lid (no BPAs as it is post 2010) that I have on a little table in the feeding area. I just put a rock in it to keep it from blowing away. I also toss some on the ground around the feeding stations.
