Careful - 16oz box and 8lb bag are not the same litter
I'm writing a review of small animal potty litter, of all things, so that other customers might avoid making the assumption I did. My rats LOVE to use the small granular Super Pet litter, which is the one in the 16oz box. It works great, and litter box training them was really easy with this product. I recently purchased a much larger cage for them, and had to buy a second litter box. I was excited to see a large bag of the Super Pet litter on Amazon and purchased it, thinking that it would be the same litter as the 16oz box (because they are listed as the same item, and you choose the size you want). However, when the litter arrived it was actually really huge balls of clay litter, which I know from experience my rats will not use. I'm not sure if this is my mistake or if Amazon's description and purchasing options for this stuff is kind of misleading, but I thought I would give other customers a heads up.
For the record, the litter works very well - great odor control and easy to scoop, and shipping was very fast. It's only the product description that I have a bit of an issue with.

Use this for my pet hedgehog in a 9" cake tin with a 10" kaytee igloo house to minimize messes cuz she kicks it every where! and mixed in some bedding cuz the sounds were scaring her into a ball her...keeps to it very very well =D

I love it! TIP
By Lucia E.
So let me tell you my experience with this product: I love it! TIP: put a thin layer of a paper based litter product underneath and then a thicker layer of this product on top. It will make it 10 times easier to clean. We've been using it for a year with our rabbits and compared to other products made from paper, this one was the best controlling odors. That is a big deal for me, I wanted something that was odorless to begin with and that I kept it like that for as long as possible. We change it every 3 to 4 days and it holds up great!!
The biggest complaint that you read out there is that once wet it turns into a clay material that hardens and it's hard to clean and that is true. But I found a solution for it. I buy this product and add a layer of it underneath the critter litter: Kaytee Soft Granule Blend Pet Bedding, 27-1/2-Liter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JLPIWU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_m723xbDF3K3ZT
This way it's way easier to clean, doesn't stick to the litter box, and I still keep the benefits of it's odor controling qualities.
Our rabbits love playing with it when it's just changed and used to make a mess. I just sprayed them with water when I saw them doing it and said 'No' the first days and now they got the idea that they can't do it. Overall, a great product, specially if you have your pets indoor and want to control the odors.
